Justin & Ellie: Spring Field Engagement

I have so many blog posts to catch up on. Seriously. When your 2 month maternity blends into months of quarantine and sessions/events get postponed… everything turns to madness and the blog gets sorely neglected. I am so excited to be BACK coming at you with my favorite engagement session OF ALL TIME.

Justin is my brother in-law and we’ve been close friends ever since I started dating his brother back in 2012. It is a massive understatement to say that Ellie and I hit it off the moment we first met. We basically stayed up until 2am talking about her, Justin and just everything. It was the reunion of long-lost friends who had never met before. I knew then and there she was special! Here we are years later and when she asked me to be one of her bridesmaids during this session (she’s such a little sneaky sneak - see photos at the end) I pretty much lost it.

This session was a roller coaster of happy tears, belly laughter and crazy weather. We arrived to the overcast field and made our way down to the water as dark clouds taunted us in the distance. We got about 15 minutes of photos in before we were caught in a downpour! I had to think fast… the humidity had already done a number on Ellie’s hair and let’s just say our spirits might have been dwindling. We rushed under a nearby tree and took a minute to pray together. We thanked God for each other and for his beautiful creation. We threw in a little request for the rain to stop and just as an “Amen” left my lips… the rain had stopped and we just looked at each other in amazement. Such a cool moment! Praise the Lord - we were on our way and ventured out again as the sun crept through the clouds. We laughed a lot. I mean a lot! It could have been the adrenaline rush of the weather change. It could have been the fact that I made a total fool of myself trying to make Justin and Ellie laugh. Either way it was a blast. I am forever thankful for this time spent with two of my greatest friends, who I also get to call family. They love each other so well and it is a blessing to witness!
